Too Good (Review: 36ers vs Breakers 28/2/15)

New Zealand 94, Adelaide 83

The Sixers season came crashing down tonight, going down in two straight against a scary good New Zealand unit.

Adelaide scored 25 in the first and 30 in the fourth but a paltry 14 in the second AND third which killed any chance it had of winning. The Breakers defence was excellent but Adelaide did itself no favours, again not pushing the tempo and able to seriously challenge the New Zealand D. Adelaide shot 37% from the field while New Zealand hit 53%. The Breakers simply had too many weapons.

It's hard to believe that Adelaide team went on a 10-0 winning streak.

Ced Jax (18pts,10reb) and Ibekwe (18pts) were excellent and well supported by Vukona, Webster and Wesley.

Wilson (23pts) and DJ (16) top scored for Adelaide although both found the going tough and scored a few in junk time. Gibson and Petrie also hit double figures but were well down on their best.

New Zealand has probably emerged as title favourites now although Cairns have been more consistent all season. Should be a great finals.

Adelaide will surely undergo a larger overhaul this off-season. Expect to see up to five changes due. More on that in the coming weeks.
