Adelaide 97, Sydney 78
It all came together for Adelaide tonight against a severely undermanned Sydney, the Sixers running away with a 97-78 win.
Adelaide simply had too many weapons for a Sydney team sans Childress. Madgen started well but got increasingly frustrated and hence less potent as the game wore on. Sydney's only other damaging player was Kevin White, who had a nice cameo with 20 points on 6/8 threes.
Adelaide walks away with plenty of positives, most notably.....
Scored 18 points and recorded 3 blocks in just over 17 minutes. Looked as locked in as we've seen him and started to find some ways to score inside. Still adjusting to the physicality of the league but looked good tonight. Only pulled in 1 rebound (as many as Nelson Larkins) but some of this can be attributed to the fact he played a fair bit of "3" tonight.
Had 23 and 8 on 10/12 from the field. Really proving a handful for opponents of late and teams will struggle when Adelaide goes big with him and two of Peach/DJ/Schensch.
Was excellent tonight. Hustled hard both ends and made plenty of big plays.
The team defence was pretty good, except for allowing Kevin White to hit 6 threes.
Adelaide has a true test up next for it's star-studded frontcourt, facing off against the Breakers in NZ. Pledger,Ibekwe,Vukona and Wesley vs DJ,Motum,Schensch and Peach should be brilliant to watch. This will be the game of the season and a great preview of finals action.
After that is Perth at home, another great test.
Losing both would be devastating. A split would be a fair return. If they go 2-0, we have a new championship favourite Naptown!
