I'm Coming Home (Eventually): Review 36ers v Hawks 23/10/14

Some unfortunate scheduling (well at least for me) meant I missed my second consecutive home game last night. This time I was away in Perth and my flight was set to leave at the start of the game, meaning I couldn't even watch it.

We'd just commenced being taxied from the gate when we got word of a "technical issue" which meant we'd be delayed and would be going back to the gate. I quickly realised this meant I could watch some of the game, so pulled out the Iphone and started watching. The delay allowed me to watch the whole first half.

Unfortunately the events that followed didn't allow me to watch the second half and led to an overnight stay in Perth. I've now watched the second half so here's my belated report.

The Sixers were really good.

I won't do a game rundown because it's now well after the event but the team was impressive. It won the boards 39-32 and the long-distance shootout (both teams hit 8 but Adelaide did so at 62% versus the Hawks 33%). If Adelaide does that it will win most matchups.

The Hawks were only going to win this if Nevill got on top and it's shooters had a night out. They didn't. Nevill was ok but was outpointed by Schensch and the team lacked any scoring punch outside Ervin, who kept his team in the game in the first half.

Gibson had a great game and looked for more his shot. Schensch impacted at both ends. BJ had his best game as a Sixer and destroyed Adam Ballinger.

Next up for the Sixers are the Breakers, who gave them a lesson just last week. They'll be at home this time but likely down Mitch Creek and Jamar Wilson. That will be a challenge.

Gibson- 18pts, 7 reb, 6 ast
Anthony- 15pts, 6 reb
Schenscher- 14pts, 10 reb, 5 ast

Ervin- 26pts, 4 reb, 4 ast
Nevill- 12pts, 4 reb, 2 ast
Hill- 8pts, 3 reb, 2 ast
