Go To Sweep, Melbourne Tigers, La La La La La La La (Preview: 36ers v Tigers 30/3/14)
I know the game is in Melbourne, that the Tigers won't go down with a fight, that Goulding is due for a scoring explosion..... Yada yada yada. It's Adelaide's time though (to take a line from Adelaide's GM) and I expect them to come home and start preparations for a highly anticipated Grand Final series.
Game 1 showed us again that Melbourne struggles when Worthington and Goulding don't dominate. We were also reminded Melbourne has trouble stopping Adelaide. The Sixers were hotter than usual from range but the Tigers struggled again to protect the paint. If Chris Anstey has any sense and any sense of occasion, he'll throw little used Auryn MacMillan in for some minutes, much like Lindsay Gaze did with Anstey himself 20 years ago. MacMillan is limited but he'll work hard, use his fouls and come up with some rebounds.
The Sixers will go back for more of the same, playing lots of the Twin Towers and hoping Rhys Carter can continue his hot form. Carter's impact was huge Thursday, not just with what he did on court but the fact his play allowed Gibson to play limited minutes. Ervin will also be pumped for this one after an impressive playoff debut and DJ will likely be hungry for some points.
I'm hopeful it's a ripping game but my feeling is that Adelaide are peaking while Melbourne are tailing off.
Bye bye Tigers.
My Tip: Adelaide by 8
