1 Out Of 2 Ain't Bad (Preview: 36ers vs Taipans)

The last time these two teams faced-off, it was a weird night of basketball. Each team built up huge leads and then saw them wasted. The game went back and forth until the end with Adelaide only getting air and a win thanks to some Mitch Creek long bombs.

The circumstances are different this time, with Adelaide backing up 24hrs after a tough loss to Townsville while Cairns comes in pretty fresh. You may have figured Adelaide would have been desperate to win last night and would have accepted an honourable loss in this one. With the Crocs winning though, Adelaide will be super keen for a win here, knowing an 0-2 road trip will create a gap between Adelaide and Perth and give a little more hope to the suddenly surging Crocs, Breakers and Kings. It will be a big test.

Cairns welcomes back Gliddon for this clash (he was injured for the last matchup) and he'll be vital in helping slow Adelaide's backcourt.  The Taipans did pretty well containing Adelaide's guards last time but Ervin and Cadee are playing a lot better now than they were at the start of the season. Alex Loughton was Cairns's biggest weapon last time and again looms large. The Taipans have some good outside shooters in Loughton, Wilson and Steindl and will draw Adelaide's bigs outside. Steve Weigh has proven to be a threat over his career but that was mainly in the Sixers blue. He's shooting 15% from range for the Taipans and is a skeleton of the player they were expecting.

Adelaide, as usual, will lean heavily on DJ and G-Money and will need it's bench to fire. Schensch will need to "bring it" tonight and the team could really use a spark from Cadee and Frye or Creek off the bench. Gibbo was the only Sixer to play over 30 minutes last night  but I'd expect Ervin and DJ to play a little more tonight and for BJ and Schensch to be used to test the interior defense of the Taipans.

I'm expecting another entertaining game between two desperate teams. Adelaide won't want to come home winless. Cairns gets a chance to knock off one of the competitions best teams and end it's losing streak in one night.

It should be a beauty.

My Tip: Adelaide by 2
