Off-season Update #2
As reported in yesterday's "The Advertiser" , club legend and fan-favourite Kevin Brooks has come back to the club as an assistant coach. Brooks should compliment the more intense Joey Wright well. Brooks's resume demands respect and his time in "The Show" and in the NBL will give him automatic credibility with players.
As reported by Andthefoul.net, it appears certain Steve Weigh has played his last game as a 36er. Rumours were strong (mainly because of the logical fit) that he'd be Glen Saville's replacement in Wollongong but he now appears to be headed to Cairns. Weigh's game had improved in his second year in Adelaide, reducing his turnovers and poor shot selection and instead becoming more of a spot-up shooter. Weigh struggled in his two games in Cairns (averages of 6pts and 4.5 rebounds) and didn't fare much better against them in Adelaide. He should though provide the Taipans with some much need offensive firepower and should thrive playing with Jamar Wilson. Cairns could be downright scary with Grabau, Weigh and Steindl firing from the perimeter. Don't be surprised if he comes back to haunt Adelaide at some stage, especially at home where he shot 45% from range last year.
