The first two games of the season were played in Adelaide, with Wollongong beating the odds in both games. In the first matchup they overcame a huge Adelaide lead in what proved to be a sign of things to come. Three weeks ago they arrived in Adelaide missing key players and newcomer Malcolm Grant and pulled off a comfortable win. So you'd be less hopeful of an Adelaide win in Wollongong right?
Not so fast............
Adelaide has been ok on the road this year, going 3-7 (hey, we're only 4-9 at home). It would fair to say the team has only put in a couple of stinkers on the road but even those losses have been semi-fathomable (New Zealand 4th qtr fadeout, all 4 quarters in Jonny Flynn's debut etc). The team has saved their worst games for their home crowd. Cheers! This team seems to like hitting the road, getting a chance to "hang" together and being away from some of the pressures of the home crowd.
There are several keys to Adelaide getting a win tonight.................
DJ & GIBBO
Our two best players have been well contained in both games versus the Hawks this year. Both will need to step it up tonight. Hopefully Gibbo's performance last week is an indication of a return to his best.
Adelaide should play an aggressive trap tonight and
DJ and Peach will need to get it done on the boards. Both are down on season averages against Wollongong and Schensch won't be suiting up, so a lot falls on these two. Steve Weigh and the guards will need to do their fair share too.
The team will have gained a lot of confidence from last weekend's comeback and Cadee's huge game-winner. Call me crazy but I think the 36ers might surprise a few people tonight.
My Tip: Adelaide by 6
*I'll be watching the replay tonight so no live comments on social media. A game review will be up in the wee hours of saturday morning.
