The Numbers: 36ers v Kings 13/1/13

While crunching the numbers last night, I got a little misty-eyed when I looked at the 36ers and Kings numbers during the third quarter. It took me back to the good old days, when we played great defense and were more than willing to engage in a good old fashioned dogfight. So for todays' edition, we'll look a little deeper at those third quarter stats.

1) Stops
Sydney didn't score a field goal or a free throw for the last 5:37 of the third quarter. Incredible stuff. To stifle guys like Madgen and Henry for that long is an incredible effort.

2) Turnovers
Adelaide forced an awesome 10 turnovers for the quarter. Adelaide only had 11 of it's own turnovers for the whole game. Sydney only had 4 other turnovers not in that pivotal third quarter. Six Kings registered a turnover for the quarter with Dann, Bruce and Henry all making 2 blunders with the ball.

3) Madgen
Adelaide did well to slow Madgen after a torrid start to the game. He took five shots for the quarter- missing them all.

4) The Rest
Sydney got no points from it's bench for the quarter and had several key players do little for the quarter.

Bruce- 1/1 fg, 2 turnovers, 1 foul
Crosswhite- 1/2 fg, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 turnover
Henry- 2/3 fg, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 2 turnovers
White- 0/1 fg, 1 rebound, 1 foul
Garlepp- 0/2 ft
Dann- 0/2 fg, 4 rebounds, 2 turnovers

The exception was Lazare, who didn't score for the period but pulled down 5 boards and registered a steal, block and assist

It was a massive difference to what Adelaide had been serving up in second halves of late. Hopefully we see more of it.
