There was a lot of emphasis on the offense, with the team splitting into 3 groups..........
Skins- Development Squad
The team ran a bunch of fullcourt stuff as well as halfcourt sets. I wouldn't say the team looked razor-sharp but the following stood out-
Pero- despite being the 10th man, I would expect to see him occasionally get some good minutes. Made some nice plays and is a good passer and is a very different player to DJ and Luke.
Mitch- showed plenty and he'll push the starters all year for decent minutes
Schensch- will cause plenty of teams trouble by his sheer size and inside moves. Got better as the session went on.
CJ- I'd expect him to play big minutes in some games as is clearly one of the most confident offensive guys on the team. Has an awkward release but it looks pretty effective.
Petrie- didn't dominate but will be a steady influence on the group and gives some flexibility with his inside/outside game.
I'm expecting it to take the team quite a few games to gel but you'd expect them to win some games on flat out talent. The team has solid depth, giving coach Marty Clarke plenty of options when things aren't going right. Even the development squad, led by Tom Daly and Jan Warbout, more than held their own against the main squad.
Roll on Sunday.................
