I'm back...........

I've just got back from the Philippines and it's good to jump right back into the NBL. If you love hoops, you'll love the Philippines. Basketball is the national sport there and a majority of the non-white collar workers get about during the day in some sort of basketball jersey. There's 2 tv channels pretty much dedicated to the PBL and NBA. It's not uncommon to flip the channels during the day and come across a Celtics v Lakers game from the 80's. But I digress. The Sixers are 1-1 in the NBL preseason tourney, beating the Kings but going down in a double overtime game against Wollongong. This relegates Adelaide to a meaningless playoff against Cairns. It will be a good opportunity for the team though to get another game under their belts. So how does the roster look so far? DJ (pictured) looks like he'll elevate his game yet again this season. He's averaged 28pts, 4 rebounds and 0.5 blocks and is clearly the focus on offense. Other key contributors have been...... Adam Gibson- 11pts, 4 reb, 6.5 ast, 2 stl per game Jason Cadee- 14.5pts, 1.5 reb, 2.5 ast, 0.5 stl per game Luke Schenscher- 13pts, 7.5 reb, 1 blk per game CJ Massingale- 12.5pts, 2.5 reb, 0 ast per game Mitch Creek- 10pts, 3.5 reb, 2 ast, 1.5 blk per game The team is starting my proposed lineup (Cadee/Gibson/Weigh/Johnson/Schenscher) and it looks like the team is well balanced. Let's just hope the bigs stay healthy as if either Schesch or DJ go down for extended periods the team has little off the bench outside newcomer Anthony Petrie. Mitch Creek continues to do well with his minutes and will keep the pressure on Steve Weigh all year for more PT. 2 games is a small sample size but look at these numbers for the preseason thus far Weigh- 38min per game, 5/13 FG, 7pts, 4 reb, 1.5 ast Creek- 16min per game, 8/10 FG, 10pts, 3.5 reb, 2 ast Or per 40min Weigh- 7.4pts, 4.2 reb, 1.6 ast Creek- 25pts, 8.8 reb, 5 ast I like Creek's energy off the bench but he'll surely psuh for 20-25 minutes a game this year.
