Tonight Adelaide takes on Wollongong for the 3rd time this season, hoping to edge ahead in the season series (currently tied 1-1). The Hawks were deplorable last time here (you can read the review here ) , with only Joevan Catron showing anything. Their vets were well down, as seen below
Oscar Forman- 1/7fg, 2pts, 4 reb
Larry Davidson- 1/5fg, 2pts, 5 reb
Glen Saville- 2/5fg, 5pts, 7 reb
Matt Campbell- 3/7fg, 8pts, 0 reb, 0 ast
On top of this was the performance of import Showron Glover who, not surprisingly, has since been cut. He put up this box score
The Hawks were terrible, putting up one of the worst performances I've seen from a visiting team. They should be much better tonight, with Ubaka now in for Glover and the team playing with much more spirit than in 2011. I'd also expect their vets to perform much better tonight. So how will Adelaide ensure they get this much needed win?
-Go inside. We have a huge advantage here with our bigs. DJ and DS both scored 20+ last time we played here. We must pound it inside.
-Stop Catron. He was a handful last time and we mustn't let him get into a groove. He's foul prone, so we must work him over on our end.
-Guard the 3. Wollongong has several threats from outside, we must work hard to ensure we don't give them easy looks.
-Get Warren and Ng going. Both players are coming off a big game. Warren will get some close attention and won't be allowed the stuff he was given last week but if his confidence is up it might not matter. Ng must get oncourt in the 1st quarter and have some plays run for him. If we're clicking inside and outside we'll be too much for the Hawks to handle.
This won't be the cakewalk it was last time, but I'm expecting a win. Adelaide by 8.
